Ampersand Education’s new school development services are led by Founding Partner Kristoffer Haines. Our team partners with school or network leadership to prepare charter school applications while simultaneously providing strategic support and guidance to ensure successful approval. Throughout the process, our team manages partnerships with city leaders and authorizers, works with clients to create national governance models that are strategically aligned with their goals, collaborates to develop charter applications to expand high-quality schools, and directs the general legal operations and compliance of the client. Once an application is submitted, our team continues to manage the charter petition review process with the authorization staff, including interview preparation, and responses to any requests for further information.

New School Development Services Offered

• Writing of the charter application in its entirety, including appendices.
• Creation of a project plan that includes:
  • A review of any existing applications or other relevant documents to identify information gaps.
  • Preparation of a checklist of all documents that will need to be provided by the charter network for preparation of a successful application.
  • Review and management of internal documentation required for charter submission.
• Management of all authorizer correspondence and requests.
• Preparation of leadership team and/or governing board for authorizer interviews and/or public hearings.

Ampersand Delivers

• A detailed project plan.
• A checklist of necessary documents.
• Multiple drafts, and the submission of the final charter application.
• Responses to any requests from authorizers.
• An appeal application, if applicable.

Our Work In Action

Ampersand Education partnered with IDEA Public Schools to draft and submit its charter first charter petitions outside of Texas, resulting in the approval of four charters in the spring of 2016 for its Baton Rouge expansion.
